A ghostly choir sings indeterminate words over a babbling brook of a rhythm that twitches rather than pounds. It has the feel of something of Autechre’s ‘Amber’ due to it’s air of spooky mellifluousness. A techno track for weird summer days, and probably one of the most striking tracks in terms of atmosphere in recent years alongside Sandwell District. ‘Ikaros’ (title presumably derived from the Japanese space exploration vehicle, in turn derived from the Icarus of Greek mythology) is a heavy-duty piece of astral gliding befitting of it’s title. ‘Six Hours’ rounds off the EP with a typical Skirt exercise in ambient, all lacerating echoes and bassweight.
